...History Links
Directing & Acting HistoryTheatre history page is to use with classes I teach -- links and resources. Minimum. If you need more, travel to other sites; there are many well developed and fully dedicated to theatre history.
Usually, I provide the links on "subject pages," but I don't have the regular LINKS page. I gave up on an idea of people sumbitting their links, I discovered that I have to delete many (websites selling something) and many are dead. If you do have active site and would like to EXCHANGE links, email me. Or better submit it to the Open Directory (I'm an editor for Theatre: Directing). One example why I do not do what others alredy done many times over:
Oedipus
Oedipus was the good, respected Theban king who, upon learning of the evil he had done inadvertently to his father and his country, put out his own eyes and had himself sent into exile.
The crux of the myth as told by Sophocles is that Oedipus was fated to kill his father and marry his mother and nothing that anyone might do could avert the fulfillment of that prophesy. English Serever has the text).Brockett: History of the Theatre
