Maybe I'm confusing everybody by using "The Importance of Being Earnest" for Acting One class as a main text and the POMO aspect of the play is not noticed. Maybe in Playscript Analysis I could place it back to back with Beckett to make the PM qualities visible. Maybe in WWWilde production book I should use the postmodern terminology. Maybe my pomo pages are not developed enough to see the postmodern value of Wilde. Only a few in the SCRIPT directory. Maybe I am completely wrong....

But I can't move postmodern takes on acting or directing into instructional pages! I have to hide the postmodern within the theory directory. Too bad. In film classes students recognise immediately the new feel of the film language. I see it in Tarantino and David Lynch -- and should learn it as a style and method. But here is such an enormous gap in theatre that it's impossible to take them from the popart and pop-culture sample to applications of POMO in class and on stage.

Everything I said about the hidden "love story" between Jack and Algernon, totaly terrofied my actors. Although it is much more serious study of homosexuality than Kushner...

WWWilde project was the only (beside HamletDreams) my attempt to use PM theories on stage. Well, maybe I should go to my nonfiction or film pages to work on POMO.

The textbooks are silent about this period, which we can date at least to 1968 -- and of course, to the historical roots: existentialism, absurd, Dada, constructivism, Marxism... So many issues can be understood by the students, if we are to view them from the PM perspective.

Drama:

I left this page in Theory Directory, because I struggle with the use of the wwwilde file. I use them for Acting One Online (showcases)... and I wanted to use Oscar Wilde for postmodern (POMO) analysis!

Well, since I can't get my instructional notes to the real pages, the theory has to wait. Including, dear to my heart PM theories!

For now read my nonfiction directories (especially, SELF, POV, Tech), which are full of postmodernism.

BTW, "WWWilde" is a hint for POMO....

Concept, Set, Costumes, Sound, Character Analysis, Style, Composition -- how the show communicate the Thought (Theatre Thoery and Theatre Practice). Thematic Breakdown: Identity, Selfhood, Society. Practical Interpretation, not only what but HOW.
"Biomechanics as Style"? Mannerism and chroreographed social performance. Mini-rituals: drinking tea (how many acting cycle in this act?) as a statement. Different in different situations: drining tea is the form of the message, the text, not the subtext. Behavior -- the medium of the social games. The body language and paralangual. The art of not speaking straight.

Why is "The Importance of Being Earnest" important today?

Why "WWWilde"? After-thoughts on Wilde and The Importance of Being Earnest: all postmodern insights were lost (only the costumes still had it). "The blank parody" and the main theme of constructing your own identity... We all think it's a comedy. We keep forgetting that it's a comedy for serious people. That's Wilde's definition of the genre!
