Filmmaking and love-making have a lot in common. It's making it. Doing.
Maybe poet or composer are "creators" -- good for them, movies are MADE. Very much like bridges, roads and buildings. There is nothing wrong with being creative or being in love, you better be, but unlike writers, who "make" in isolation and solitude, films are created by the crowds. If can't stand it, you are in the wrong business.
Oh, yes, this is BUSINESS.
Too much of it. You have to have this bone in you. I don't.
You have to remind yourself -- nothing personal, it's business, man.
You have to learn this attitude -- because it's PROFESSION.
You can write poetry without being "professional poet" -- I can't shoot movies without being professional.
Of course, you can, what I am saying!
And everybody, including children and animals, will see it... That you are not professional.

"A film is -- or should be -- more like music than like fiction. It should be a progression of moods and feelings. The theme, what's behind the emotion, the meaning, all that comes later." - Stanley Kubrick, master filmmaker who died March 7th at age 70. (1999)
The mind of the filmmaker -- that is the principle of the site organization. Practical information on any tech and equipment aspects? Search the actual producers or filmmakers websites. (See Cinematography, for example)
