FAQ Featured Pages : Theatre Classes Intro Three Classes Directories: Film & Theatre Like everything on the web it goes through three stages: first -- for myself, to help me with the classes. Second -- the stage when I make it understandable for the students in my classes, and the last -- for you, strangers. I am doing it for three years already and only now I am arriving to the "3rd generation" of my websites. If you are a webmaster (who is not nowadays), you have an idea how much it takes to make a quality page. You see, only now I made such pages as "Title" (before it was Intro pages). I do not know who, why, when, from where come to read my pages. Please, use the guestbooks, email, polls. Study of the art of cinema (films) and the use of the film language in the popular mass media (movies). Comparative analysis of the classics and the recent motion pictures. This writing intensive course is aimed at non-theatre majors. Part of the film-minor reqired classes.[ I moved the content of this page to Film&Movies 2003 ]
I still have to collect ALL related pages (many are in Film Directing course); I still have to find the way to separate the "shot" page into two: one -- for filmmakers, another -- for film analysis.
film.vtheatre.net: main directory!
Working with Actors? Script analysis? Not here. See Theatre w/Anatoly Classes Directory.
Everything about ACTING is at Theatre w/Anatoly and Ant Theatre!
Film-North is about Filmmaking and Film Theory.
Books online are on Books pages and in Mining Directory
I am about to make a new directory for Film Links, but for now you can check my links at Open Directory Project (Film Theatre) and Absolute Authority (I was an editor at both).
Although I made online page, I do not teach online classes. Nevertheless, all my courses are "web-supported"; in addition to live classes and textbooks, I require reading my class notes (webpages), use eForums for student papers and feedback.
Film classes are more suitable to go online, than theatre classes, but even after four yeras of webbing, I do not think that I am ready to offer a real "online" course. It requires enormous labor to substitute live contacts with students. I do not know, when, if ever, I will able to teach cyber-students...
It's not the question of technology, but the changing the "technology" of communications between instuctor and pupils. Online study is basically nothing more than a self-study with some "human" element (support). "Mentoring" practically disappearing and even "advising" is reduced almost to zero. Maybe it is better than reading a book, but very little I can do about "reading" my students. How to find this new educational mode? I don't know.
What are the possible directions?
First, you, cyber-studfents, must change your learning attitude...
In short, first teaching is the student himself!
PS. If you are trying to follow my classes without being in my classroom, keep the above in mind. @2000-2003 film-north *
