This place is to serve several directories: Film600 (I plan to move crazy film-theatre files there), Film & Movies directory (some titles and tests are not for class). All of it is recommended, the required textbooks are in the right table (Amazon).the division of philosophy books is simple: the classics and the POMO (postmodern). The classical readings including all authors before I was born (perhaps Foucault, Deleuze and others will become the classics in somebody else periodozation). Of course, the classical philosophers have many different eras, but you can find the timetable in every textbook.
I had to build "philosophy books" pages, because my students do not understand that the ideas for film, directing, acting, writing and so on do not come from the textbooks. You need to read, read a lot, read good books, read "difficult" writers...
From the title page: "Since I do everything through Amazon now, you can go to my page and see what I buy, recommend and so on... (click on Virilio pix)"
I resisted as long as I could... to including philosophy readings on my pages, but I am afraid I have to do it now, because I am not doing bibliography and references for my books. I hope that Amazon listings I made under different subject lines could help.
...
2003: I am about to travel again -- and I made this page for myself (and for you). My plans are in other directory -- THR and they are all Theatre and Teaching related. Travel? What do I mean?
I am talking about new intellectual territories. You see, at some point I plan to finish my nonfiction manuscript, but to get there I have to continue my methodology exploration. Postmodern edge is not enough, expecially, when we think about film as language and film as philosophical discourse. And this is what I want to focus on.
There are two personal reasons for doing this journey: practical (read Virtual Theatre Files and theoretical (read POV, nonfiction novel).
