Oh yes, I understand why we need this new language! Yes, I call it "Language of Angels" because this is the language God speaks. Yes, this is why we can't hear it, we must see, we must learn to read each other minds. Godhead. How do you think the three share the thoughts and feelings? Oh, it's easy to understand. How do you do it? Yes, yes, you. How do you speak to yourself?
This is all you need to know about the essense of film.

Summary
I still didn't figure out how to use this directory and pages for the class I teach right now (Spring 2003) -- Film Analysis (THR334 Film & Movies). Maybe at the end of semester, when we are done with film language and theories?
Questions
"Nothing is so important to man as his existence; nothing so much to be feared as eternity. And therefore it is quite unnatural that there should be men indifferent to the loss of their being and to the danger of an eternity of misery. They think quite otherwise of everything else; they fear the smallest things, they anticipate them, they suffer from them; and the same man who passes so many days and nights in rage and despair over the loss of a place or for some imaginary slight on his honor, that same man knows without anxiety or emotion that he will lose everything at his death. It is a monstrous thing to see this strange sensibility about small things, existing side by side in the same heart at the same time." (Blaise Pascal 1623-1662)
Notes
I have to find out the way to link the pages with my nonfiction "POV" and "Theology of Technology": many ideas are there, but in non-academic forms.
2002: Two years ago I made a mistake. I didn't make subject directories and all film pages ended up in main directory. To change the URLs of so many pages is (almost) impossible.
I learned my lessons. Now I do create directories. This one is for advanced pages on Film Studies (#600 is from the graduate course usual listing at UAF).
Since Virtual Theatre site, which I created for the simular purpose, simply disappered, I will home the v-pages here @ Film-North directory for Film-as-Philosophy.
Film is virtual by its very nature....
Becoming digital, film is entering another radical revolution -- full virtuality. What you are going through emotionaly today will be equal to physical. You indeed about to become a hero, position in the middle of action...
Here is a challenge for a screen writer: introduce the story where the viewer is the lead.
I suspect that it will be possible to project your own face into the the story, when the characters address to you, using your real name. The autoreplies already do it with your email -- Dear Anatoly... I have to remind myself that the message was sent by a machine!
Theme-thought, according to different playwrights (Shakespeare, Ibsen, Strindberg, Chekhov and so on) and directors (Fillini, Kurosawa, Tarkovsky, Bergman pages).
Connections with other themes (list): family, gender and sex...
Finally, my own practical investigations: shows.vtheatre.net (only recently I began to make themes pages, Don Juan 2003, for example).
And the nonfiction (writing), of course: HIM, Father-Russia, PostAmeriKa, Self, POV, Tech (gatepages are in WRITE directory).
Yeah, yeah, there is more -- "philo" pages, metaphysics: in theatre theory directory, for instance (topics-bar: space, time and etc.)
I reread The Vision Machine and you will see more notes on Virilio (read POV files first).
Lotman
